Joseph Cates currently serves as GM, Business Development for Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory managing Panasonic's relationships with Hollywood studios and content owners.  Prior to this role, he served as SVP, Technology at Universal Pictures where he oversaw the studio’s worldwide technology efforts and overall technology strategy. 

​During his career, he also worked in various technology, operations, standards, and policy roles at NBC Universal, Microsoft, and Universal Music Group.
